elcome inside, to MuséeMaison’s curated collection of homes, studios and other creative spaces that once belonged to artists, writers, architects, musicians, designers and thinkers. I’ve always loved these places. There’s something very different about seeing someone’s work in a museum and stepping into the rooms where that work actually came to life. The desk where an author wrote. The studio where a painter worked. The objects someone chose to surround themselves with. The view from a window they looked through every day. Sometimes these small, ordinary details tell you more about a person than the work hanging on a gallery wall. Over the years, I started saving these places in an ever-growing Google Maps list called Ett Rum för Resande, Swedish for A room for travellers. It began simply as a way of remembering museums I had loved and places I hoped to visit one day. Eventually, the list grew into something much bigger, stretching across cities and countries, filled with remarkable homes, studios and spaces that can be surprisingly difficult to discover unless you already know they exist. MuséeMaison grew out of that list. The collection brings together places from around the world, chosen as much for their atmosphere as their history. Grand houses sit alongside tiny studios, carefully preserved interiors alongside slightly eccentric homes that still feel as though their owners have only just stepped outside.
